A few weeks ago i was lucky enough to film a surfing story in the Mentawai Islands with Getaway. This place is absolute paradise! For those of you who surf, the islands have some of the best waves in the world, including the break known as Macaroni’s. Maccas is a perfect left hand barrel, it’s even been voted one of the funniest waves on earth. Just 5 days after we left the islands a Tsunami hit. (image above, surfboard by Hayden Shapes)

Below is the village of Silabu, about a 20min boat ride from the Macaroni’s Resort. We spent the day here filming with Getaway and the guys from SurfAid. It was amazing to see the amount of work that SurfAid had done to the village. I spent most of the day, while we weren’t filming, just hanging out with all the kids in the village.
